As a rough qualitative picture, entry-level engineers earn a modest but stable starting salary, mid-level engineers with a few years of proven yield-improvement work earn noticeably more, and senior engineers who can crack the hardest problems and lead investigations sit well above that. As an indicative annual CTC range for the broader Indian semiconductor engineering market, roughly Rs 6 to 20 lakh spanning entry to senior is commonly reported, indicative, varies by employer and experience, and not a guarantee. A brand-new fab in a greenfield location like Dholera may set pay differently to attract and retain scarce talent, and these figures are not Dholera-specific. How this role fits Dholera

Dholera is where a semiconductor fab is being built by Tata Electronics with PSMC, approved by the Union Cabinet on 29 February 2024 under the India Semiconductor Mission. The reported investment is about Rs 91,000 crore, with capacity of up to 50,000 wafers per month on 300 mm wafers, and reported process nodes of 28, 40, 55, 90 and 110 nm, starting at mature nodes and moving toward 28 nm. Products reported include power-management ICs, display driver chips, microcontrollers and high-performance computing logic. Yield engineers are central to making such a line profitable, since a new fab must climb its yield curve before commercial production makes sense. Reported direct plus indirect jobs from the fab exceed 20,000, and a wider multi-fab vision cites about 100,000 as a target.
